Hai pepps! I will discuss the second material this semester about "Argumentative Text".

 

 

— ★  Theory 

 

Social Function - What is Argumentative text for?

An argumentative text uses evdience and facts to prove whether or not a thesis is true, so two sides of an issues are presented in it. This text covers the most important arguments for and againts.

 

Text Structure - Here is an explanation of a argumentative text structures.

1. Thesis - This section informs the reader about the main topic and the author's point of view.
2. Arguments - Present the reasons for concern, leading to the recommendation.
3. Recommendation - Presents the statement of what ought or ought not to happen. The author tries to invite and persuade the reader to do something. 

Language Features and Language Component - There are some language features of argumentative text: 

1.  It contains the author's thoughts, ideas, views, and opinions.

2. It is accompanied by logical reasons, facts or events that occurred, as well

as information from several sources such as data graphics, pictures, and other

things that can be accepted by reason.

3. It is presented using analysis and analogy.

It’s mean like do deeper investigation into the topic that discussed on the text,

knowing the exact source.

4. It is usually written as a non-fiction text and ends with a conclusion.

Conclusion is used as an epilogue placed at the end of a piece of writing or text.

Conclusions are drawn based on research and consideration of the discussion in

the text.

5. Logical connectives, logical connectives are words or symbols which are used

to form a complex sentence from two simple sentences by connecting them. Some

logical connectives are if, then, unless.

6. Abstract nouns refer to ideas, feelings, emotions, states, actions, concepts,

experiences, and qualities that we cannot see, taste, touch, smell, or hear.

Here are some examples of abstract nouns: honesty, intelligence, bravery. Names

of subjects are abstract nouns.

7. Technical term is a word, phrase, or acronym that professionals or experts use

in their specific field to help save time when communicating with other

knowledgeable professionals. There are some technical terms in technology such as malware and phishing.

 1. The Advantages for Poverty Alleviatio

Thesis :

Poverty is a pervasive social issue that continues to plague societies worldwide, both in developed and developing countries. Extreme economic inequality and injustice in resource distribution are the primary causes of poverty.

Arguments 1 : The Impact of Poverty 

Poverty has detrimental effects both on individuals and society as a whole. Individuals living in poverty often struggle to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, and education. Socially, poverty can lead to tension and instability within communities.

Arguments 2 : The Challenges in Poverty Alleviation 

Despite numerous programs and initiatives launched to address poverty, there are still many challenges to be faced. These include difficulties in identifying and assisting vulnerable individuals, as well as a lack of resources needed to implement effective solutions.

Arguments 3 : The Solution to Decrease Poverty 

To tackle poverty, a comprehensive and coordinated approach is needed. This includes fair economic policies, investment in education and skill training, and empowering local communities to develop their local economies.

Recommendation :

Combating poverty is a complex and urgent task for all parties involved. With joint efforts from governments, civil society, and the private sector, we can build a fairer and more inclusive society for all individuals.

2.  The importants of Environmental Protection 

Thesis :

Environmental protection is a pressing global social issue. Human activities such as deforestation, air and water pollution, and climate change have caused significant damage to the natural environment.

Arguments 1 : The Impact of Environmental Degradation

Environmental degradation has detrimental effects on both humans and ecosystems. These include increased disease rates, economic losses due to natural disasters, and threats to biodiversity.

Arguments 2 : The Challenges in Environmental Protection 

While awareness of the importance of environmental protection has increased, there are still many challenges to be faced. These include lack of public awareness, conflicting economic interests, and a lack of international cooperation.

Arguments 3 : The Solution to Protect the environment 

To protect the environment, immediate and sustainable action is needed. This includes reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources, promoting renewable energy, and wider environmental education.

Recommendation : 

Environmental protection is a shared responsibility of all humanity. With awareness and collective action, we can prevent further damage to the natural environment and pass it on responsibly to future generations.

 3.  The Problem of Mental Health Among Teenagers

Thesis : 

Mental health issues among teenagers are becoming a global concern. Academic pressure, social changes, and excessive use of social media have increased the risk of mental health disorders among adolescents.

Arguments 1 : The Impact of Mental Health

Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders can have serious impacts on the physical and emotional well-being of teenagers. They can also affect their ability to learn and socialize.

Arguments 2 : The Challenges in Findings Solution to Mental Health Problems 

While awareness of the importance of mental health has increased, there is still strong stigma in some communities. Many teenagers are reluctant to seek help for fear of being judged or seen as weak.

Arguments 3 : The Solution to Deal With Mental Health 

To address mental health issues among teenagers, a holistic approach is needed. This includes mental health education in schools, easy access to mental health services, and strong social support from families and communities.

Recommendation :

Mental health issues among teenagers are a complex challenge that requires serious attention from all parties involved. By reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and providing easy access to mental health services, we can help teenagers overcome mental health issues and grow into physically and emotionally healthy individuals.
